22 Volumes. Contemporary quarter calf & marbled boards, spines lettered in gilt on black panels. This is the 21 volume set in French published in Vienna from 1802 - 1821, plus the supplementary volume published in Leipzig by Weigel in 1843. Rubbing to joints, scattered foxing, upper hinge of Volume 1 tender but intact, chip from the upper spine of Volume 15; a very good set. The spine of Volume 21 is misnumbered as 20. This set contains 73 engraved plates [of 76]; the plates from Volumes 16 & 17 are not present, and appear never to have been bound in [copies are provided in facsimile]. The first plate at the rear of Volume 7 has been excised, as in all copies examined. The plate at the rear of Volume 6 is folding. The set is sometimes accompanied to two oblong 4to. volumes of plates, not present here. Internally fresh, a decent set overall. When wrapped this set will weigh about 10 kg (22 pounds) so shipping costs are a consideration.
